Why do cats glow in the dark
Cats do not actually glow in the dark, but their eyes can appear to glow due to a phenomenon called eyeshine. This effect is caused by the reflection of light off of the tapetum lucidum, a layer of cells located behind the retina in the cat’s eye.
The tapetum lucidum reflects light back through the retina, increasing the cat’s sensitivity to low light conditions. This reflection causes the eyes to appear to glow, especially in dim or dark lighting. The color of the eyeshine can vary depending on the cat’s eye color, ranging from green to yellow to red.
The tapetum lucidum is present in many nocturnal animals, including dogs, raccoons, and deer, and serves a similar purpose in all of them, to help them see better in low light conditions. The tapetum lucidum reflects light that is not absorbed by the retina, effectively doubling the amount of light that enters the eye and allowing the animal to see better in the dark.

Unlike dogs, cats don’t need to be taken outside as long as you have the litterbox they pretty much do their own business. Cats not just being pets, they also help in protecting you from pests like mice or rats.
